Try a checkout without taking a payment

Use demo mode to check the shopping experience before you accept real orders.

Demo mode lets you practise placing an order without taking a real payment.

Run a demo checkout

  1. Open Settings → Payments and turn on Demo mode. Save the change.

  2. Select View store in the sidebar.

  3. Add a product to the cart, then continue to checkout.

  4. Enter your contact details and any delivery information required for the product.

  5. Continue to the payment step and place the test order.

  6. Return to Orders in your dashboard to check the result. If demo orders are hidden, change that filter.

Before you go live

Turn demo mode off and save. Check that purchases are enabled and that at least one payment provider is connected for paid orders.

Demo orders do not use your monthly live-order allowance or send customer confirmation emails. A successful demo checkout checks the shopping flow; it does not confirm that your live payment-provider account is ready.

Do not leave demo mode on when you want to take real customer payments.
